When two pharmacists decided to strike out on their own and open an independent pharmacy, one of their first calls was to my studio. They needed someone to help them navigate every aspect of opening a retail business and creating a brand.

Wailea Pharmacy was to be Maui’s first truly integrative pharmacy offering a combination of both conventional pharmaceutical treatments and naturopathic remedies in addition to other specialized services including compounding services, pet products, urgent care, and delivery programs.

During an intensive 14 month process, I served as the overall design lead handling the architectural & interior design and the brand development.

I partnered with the architect and contractor from initial architectural renderings through final build out. My studio provided interior design services, managed construction and worked with the contractor in sourcing all materials to ensure high quality standards were met while maintaining overall budget.

Branding included logo, brand voice, signage, packaging (prescription labels), marketing collateral, and website.

Since opening in October 2014, Wailea Pharmacy consistently receives accolades from customers on the friendly, beachy environment of the store and has become the preferred pharmacy for local resorts including Four Seasons, Grand Wailea, Fairmont Kea Lani, and Andaz.

Wailea Pharmacy was profitable within its first year of business. The pharmacy model has gained the attention of real estate developers and commercial property managers which have approached the owners about relocating or replicating in other locations on the island.
